Rafael

"Paeng"

Rafael has been with the Subic Bay Children's Home since October 3, 1996.  Raphael was 21/2  years old when his parents separated, his mother ran off with her lover when she found out her husband was also seeing another women.  When she left, she left Raphael including Raphael’s other brothers and his six month old sister with their father.  The father was now living with his mistress, who also had children of her own.  Soon there was no more room in this new family for the Sevilla children; they were left to sleep outside and to find their own food. There were times their Aunt would feel sorry for them and give them a little bit of rice to eat.  Other than this little attention, here were four little children thrust into the cares of this world, fighting and struggling instead of learning and growing.

One day a homosexual neighbor offered to take Raphael into his home and send him to school. But instead of being Rafael’s Guardian the homosexual repeatedly  molested Rafael.  Though Raphael is so young he has been through much turmoil and heart ache.

Raphael's father had heard about us (Subic Bay Children's Home) and had brought three of his children here.  After several weeks of doing so he took Raphael away from the neighbor and also brought him here to SBCHome.

When Raphael was brought to Subic Bay Children’s Home he was covered in sores due to bad living conditions.  It took a lot of time and care to get him strong and healthy.  His body had been completely infested with bugs which had caused sores all over his body.

Through living here at Subic Bay Children’s Home, Raphael has learned so much, not only academically but spiritually as well.  Raphael also has a very beautiful voice which he has been developing.  Raphael is one of the soloist of the children’s choir
